Sedalia is an old village nestled in a wide, picturesque valley in northwestern Bedford County. It's never been very large, but at one time it could boast its own post office (1881-1906) and several stores, and was surrounded by farms passed down within families from generation to generation.

Today, Sedalia is a cross-roads community with a single general store, two churches, a doctor's office and a community center. There are still some long-standing family farms in the area, but some of the local farms have been split up into smaller lots. Still, the sense of community and local pride remain strong and inspires us to want to learn more about the history of this area.
